KYC Verification Policy
This KYC Verification Policy describes Fantra’s procedures for verifying the age and identity of our users, in compliance with our 18+ platform requirement and relevant regulations. “KYC” stands for “Know Your Customer” (or Know Your Client) , and in Fantra’s context it refers to the mandatory age verification and identity checks we conduct to ensure all our users are adults and that our platform remains safe, legal, and reputable.
By using Fantra, you agree to undergo our verification processes as described in this Policy. This Policy supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If there is any conflict between this Policy and the general Terms, this Policy will govern issues of user verification. All terms defined in the Terms of Service have the same meanings here unless defined otherwise.
Definitions
For clarity, here are key definitions related to this document.
KYC means know your customer checks used to confirm age and identity
Age Verification means the process that confirms a user is eighteen or older
Identity Verification Provider means the specialised third party that performs checks
Liveness Check means a real time test to confirm the person matches the ID presented
Verification Record means the internal confirmation that verification succeeded, without storing raw ID images
Re Verification means a repeated check required in certain cases such as suspected fraud or legal change
Jurisdictional Requirements means local laws that may change verification steps in some regions
1. Why KYC/Verification Is Needed
Fantra is an adults-only (18+) platform featuring AI-generated content of a sexually explicit nature. We take the protection of minors seriously and abide by laws and industry best practices requiring age verification for adult content platforms . The objectives of our KYC verification are:
Age Restriction Compliance: To prevent anyone under 18 from accessing or using Fantra. Many jurisdictions (e.g. UK, Australia, EU countries, certain U.S. states) have laws requiring robust age verification for online adult services. Our process helps ensure we meet these obligations and that no minors are exposed to adult content.
Protection of the Community: Verifying identity deters bad actors from misusing the platform. It helps us ensure that each user is a real, unique individual and old enough to participate, which in turn reduces fraud, harassment, and illegal activities.
Payment and Partner Requirements: Payment processors and other partners often require platforms like ours to have proper KYC procedures to reduce the risk of chargebacks, money laundering, and to ensure compliance with international sanctions (where applicable). Though Fantra content is AI-generated (no human performers), we still maintain high compliance standards akin to platforms with human content creators.
Accountability: Users who have verified identities are less likely to engage in misconduct. And if they do, we have a verified identity to provide to law enforcement if necessary. It also prevents banned users from easily returning under new identities.
Legal Record-Keeping: In line with record-keeping practices (such as 18 U.S.C. §2257 in the US, which mandates age verification records for adult content, even though Fantra’s content is AI, we voluntarily align with the spirit of these laws), we maintain proof that all content on our platform is only accessible by and created by adults.
In summary, KYC is integral to maintaining Fantra as a safe, legal, and trustworthy service for our global user base. If you do not wish to complete the verification steps, unfortunately you will not be able to use our platform. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this process, as it ultimately protects you and the community at large.
2. Scope: Who and When We Verify
Fans (General Users): Upon sign-up, you must attest you are 18 or older. We may require additional proof if mandated by local law or if we suspect underage use, but by default a self-declaration is used for fans.
Creators: Any user who wishes to upload content or earn revenue as a Creator must undergo comprehensive KYC. This means providing a valid photo ID and passing a liveness/biometric check through our verification partner (e.g. Ondato or equivalent) before you can withdraw earnings. Creators will not receive payouts until identity verification is successfully completed, with an audit trail kept of the verification
Timing of Verification: Age verification is part of the account signup workflow. You will be prompted to complete it before gaining full access. In some cases, we might grant limited provisional access pending verification (for example, allowing browsing of certain non-sensitive areas), but no explicit content or community interaction is available until you pass verification. For creators (if/when applicable), identity verification will be required before you can publish content or especially before any earnings withdrawals.
Re-Verification: We reserve the right to require users to re-verify their information in certain scenarios. For example, if there are indications of account compromise or fraud, if significant time has passed since the last verification, or if new regulatory standards mandate updated verification, we may ask you to complete the verification process again. Additionally, if your initial verification data is suspected to be invalid or has expired (such as an ID document that is now expired or if we get information that calls its authenticity into question), we may suspend your account and request re-verification.
Jurisdictional Requirements: In some regions, the law may set specific standards for age verification (e.g., requiring a government database check or specific approved verification methods). We adjust our verification processes to comply with local requirements. This means users in certain countries might experience a slightly different verification flow (for instance, involving entering a national ID number that’s checked against a government system) – but regardless of the method, we uphold equivalent privacy and security measures for your data.
3. Verification Process
Fantra uses a combination of automated and manual processes, often through a trusted third-party verification provider, to verify user age and identity. Here’s what you can expect from the verification process:
Initiation: Upon signing up, you will be prompted to verify your age. This typically happens right after email confirmation or alongside account creation. You won’t be able to proceed to use the platform’s main features without completing this step.
Third-Party Verification Provider: We have partnered with a specialised identity verification service to carry out the document checks and liveness detection. Currently, we use a third-party provider (for example, services similar to Ondato, Veriff or Jumio – the exact provider’s name will be indicated in the verification flow). This provider has robust privacy and security practices and is compliant with data protection laws. The verification interface may appear as an embedded widget or a redirect to the provider’s secure site.
Document Submission: You will be asked to submit a valid government-issued photo identification document. Acceptable IDs include (depending on your country): passport, driver’s license, national ID card, or other government ID that shows your date of birth and a clear photo. The interface will guide you to either upload images of the document or capture them via your device’s camera. You’ll need to capture the front and back if it’s double-sided (like many licenses) or the photo page in the case of a passport.
Liveness Check (Biometric Verification): To ensure the ID truly belongs to you and is not stolen or fake, our provider may prompt you to complete a liveness check . Typically, this involves using your device’s camera to take a selfie, or a short video/selfie with specific gestures (like turning your head or blinking). This is to verify that you are a real live person and match the face on the ID. The process uses facial recognition technology to compare the selfie to the ID’s photo.
Age Confirmation: The primary goal is to confirm you are at least 18. The provider’s system will extract your date of birth from the ID and ensure that the DOB indicates ≥18 years old today. (Note: We do not allow “almost 18” users; you must be 18 as of the day of verification.)
Additional Checks: The verification service may also perform authenticity checks on the ID (to detect forgeries) and may cross-verify basic information (like ensuring the ID number is valid). In some cases, the system might ask for additional proof if something isn’t clear. For example, a request to retake a photo if the ID image was blurry, or to provide a different type of ID if the first one isn’t accepted.
Declaration of Explicit Content (For Creators): (This step applies only if Fantra introduces creator accounts who upload content.) If you are signing up to become a content creator, we may ask you to declare whether you intend to post sexually explicit content. This is primarily for our record-keeping and to ensure compliance with certain laws. Once you make this declaration, it is locked to your profile. The reason is that creators who post explicit content may be subject to additional compliance steps (like 2257 record-keeping in the US). On Fantra (with AI content), this has limited applicability, but we include the step for completeness and futureproofing.
Result: In most cases, verification is near instant (completed within a couple of minutes). The system will either return a “pass” (you are verified) or “fail” (verification could not be completed) to Fantra. If passed, you’ll be granted access to the platform immediately thereafter. If it fails or flags an issue, you will be notified and possibly given an opportunity to try again or provide additional info.
Manual Review if Needed: Certain cases might go into manual review by either the verification provider’s agents or Fantra’s compliance team:
If your ID photo was unclear or the name didn’t match (for instance, if your ID is slightly damaged or non-Latin script needed manual handling).
If the liveness check had issues (maybe poor lighting caused a facial mismatch).
If there are signs of potential fraud (e.g., the ID might be flagged on a database of known fake IDs).
For creators with high earning activity
In a manual review, a trained verification specialist will look at your submitted info to make a decision. This can take from a few minutes up to a day. During this time, your account may be in a “pending verification” state. We appreciate your patience in such cases.
Notification: After verification, we will confirm your status. Typically, the platform will show a message like “Verification successful!” and/or send you a confirmation email. If unsuccessful, we will provide a message on what went wrong (if possible) and next steps (e.g., “ID unreadable, please try again with a clearer photo” or “verification failed – contact support”).
4. If Verification Fails or Is Refused
It’s possible that some users will not pass the verification on the first attempt, or at all. Here’s how we handle those situations:
Underage Users: If the verification process determines (or we have reason to believe) you are under 18, your account will not be activated. If you somehow gained provisional access, it will be revoked. We may display a message that you are not eligible to use Fantra due to age. We will retain minimal data to prevent circumvention – for example, we might hash your email or device identifier and keep it in a “blocked minors” list so that we can automatically deny any re-registration attempts. We do not keep your ID documents in this case (except as may be required by law to evidence an attempted underage verification).
Mismatch or Suspicious Info: If the verification fails because the documents didn’t match you (e.g., the selfie and ID photo looked like different people, or someone tried to use another person’s ID), we treat this very seriously. This could be considered an attempted fraud. The account will be rejected or suspended. You may contact support if you believe it was an error (for instance, some people don’t resemble their ID photo perfectly; a manual review might help). However, deliberate misuse (like using someone else’s identity) will result in a permanent ban. We reserve the right to also report such incidents to relevant authorities if appropriate (identity fraud is illegal).
Document Issues: If you simply had an issue like an expired ID or a technical problem capturing it, we’ll usually allow you to try again. The system might prompt you to submit an alternative document or contact our support. We understand there can be technical glitches or a need to try a different device.
Refusal to Verify: If you choose not to complete the verification, you will not be able to use Fantra beyond perhaps the landing page. We respect user autonomy, but verification is not optional for our platform due to the reasons outlined. We do not make exceptions, even if you claim to be above 18 but “don’t want to share ID.” All users must go through the same process.
Appeals: If you believe your verification was incorrectly failed, you can reach out to our support (admin@fantra.ai). Provide any relevant details. In some cases, we might use an alternate verification method as a backup (such as a manual video call with our staff in rare cases) to clear things up. But generally, the third-party verification result is reliable. We are open to reviewing edge cases, for instance, if your legal name and appearance are gender-transitioned compared to your old ID, or other unique scenarios, we will work with you discreetly to verify through alternative means if needed.
Account Termination for False Info: It is a violation of our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy to provide false information or attempt to deceive us during verification. If we catch a user intentionally trying to bypass verification (e.g., using a fake ID generator or someone else’s credentials), we will terminate the account and ban the individual from Fantra. This decision is final.
5. Privacy And Data Handling
Your privacy is extremely important to us, and we design our verification process to collect the minimum information necessary and to protect it at every step. Here are key points on how verification data is handled:
Third-Party Handling: When you submit your ID and biometric (selfie), that data is transmitted directly to our verification partner over an encrypted connection. Fantra’s servers may not even see the raw images – in many cases, the verification SDK takes the images, and they never touch our database.
Data Storage: We do not permanently store your full ID document images or the facial biometric data on Fantra’s servers after verification completes. Our third-party provider processes the information and returns us a result (verified/not verified + basic extracted info like age or name). We typically retain only what is necessary: for example, a verification status flag on your account, your verified birthdate or age range, and possibly an internal reference ID or token provided by the verifier.
Provider’s Data Retention: Our verification provider is contractually bound to handle your data securely and to not use it for any purpose other than the age/ID check. They also are required to purge the detailed data after a certain short period needed for their legal compliance (for instance, many providers delete the uploaded documents within minutes or hours after verification, keeping only a transactional log that a check was performed).
Use of Personal Info: The info obtained from verification (such as your date of birth and name) is used strictly for compliance, account management, and safety:
Date of birth confirms you are 18+ and may be used to tailor your experience (for instance, to ensure age-appropriate content settings if needed).
Your legal name (if provided) is generally not displayed anywhere on Fantra (we use usernames for public profiles). It’s kept on file linked to your account for purposes like preventing duplicate verifications or complying with legal requests. Fantra staff with special clearance (e.g., compliance officers) might access it if necessary (for example, responding to a subpoena).
Your ID document type and number may be stored in hashed form to ensure the same ID isn’t used by multiple accounts fraudulently.
Privacy Policy Reference: All information collected during KYC is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We encourage you to read the Privacy Policy’s sections on “What Data We Collect” and “Who We Share Your Data With,” which explicitly mention identity verification data and providers.
Security Measures: Verification data is sensitive personal data. We and our partner use industry-standard security measures to protect it. This may include encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls, regular security audits, and compliance with standards like ISO 27001 or SOC 2 (which many verification companies adhere to). Additionally, any Fantra staff who may review verification info (e.g., manual reviews) undergo background checks and training in handling personal data securely.
User Access and Deletion: You generally have the right to request information on what data was collected for your verification and to request its deletion, subject to legal retention requirements. However, note that if you request deletion of verification data (like your age verification token) while you still have an account, we may have to terminate your account (because we no longer can prove you’re 18+). Typically, we retain a verification confirmation for as long as your account is active and as required by law. If you delete your account, as per our Privacy Policy, we will delete or anonymise personal data including verification info, except what must be retained by law.
No Sharing of Verification Data for Marketing: Rest assured, the information you provide for KYC is not used for marketing or profiling. We do not sell or rent this data. It is solely for compliance and internal security use.
6. Ongoing Compliance & Monitoring
Verification isn’t a one-and-done checkbox for us – we incorporate it into ongoing compliance efforts:
Monitoring for Suspicious Activity: Fantra continuously monitors account activity. Even after passing KYC, if an account starts exhibiting patterns that raise concern (e.g., an account that was verified to a 18-year-old suddenly is being accessed from a location known for fraud, or we suspect the original verified user sold their account to someone else), we might perform additional checks. We might ask the user to re-verify or provide a quick selfie to match the prior record, as a safeguard.
High-Risk Reviews: If any user is flagged for potentially violating content rules (like attempting to create disallowed content, especially anything hinting at minors), our team will review their verification status closely. Users who somehow slip through verification with fake info will be caught and removed in such audits. We also periodically audit verification records to ensure no known invalid IDs were used (e.g., cross-checking against databases of lost/stolen IDs where possible).
Creator Earnings (if applicable): In a scenario where Fantra allows creators to earn money, we may have additional verification steps around payout time. For example, before a first payout is processed, we might manually review the creator’s verification details again. Large earnings might trigger a re-check to ensure the account hasn’t changed hands or that the tax information matches the verified user.
Community Reporting: If a user suspects someone on Fantra might be underage or using a fake identity, we encourage reporting it. Our team will investigate and take appropriate action, which could include requiring that user to undergo a fresh verification check.
Collaboration with Authorities: In the event we are contacted by law enforcement or regulators about a particular user (for instance, investigating underage access or identity fraud), we can confirm whether that user was verified and provide relevant data under proper legal process. Our detailed logs (e.g., which staff member or system approved the verification, timestamp, etc.) ensure traceability.
Impersonation and Copyright: Although Fantra content is AI, if someone attempted to impersonate another person using AI models or otherwise, verification helps here too. For example, a user cannot claim to be a certain famous creator from another platform because their verified legal identity would not match. This protects against social engineering.
Transparency: We will periodically publish (e.g., in transparency reports or on our policies page) high-level information about our verification program – such as the percentage of users verified, any changes in providers or methods, etc., without compromising security. This is to keep users and stakeholders informed that we are continuously upholding our 18+ promise.
7. User Responsibilities and Consent
By undergoing the KYC process, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
Truthfulness: You affirm that all information and documents you provide during verification are truthful, accurate, and genuinely yours. Misrepresenting your identity or age is a breach of our Terms and possibly a legal violation.
Consent to Data Processing: You consent to Fantra and our third-party provider processing your personal data for the purposes of age and identity verification. This includes consent to use of biometric data (your photo or video) for facial matching, to the extent required by law (we obtain any specific consent needed for biometric processing under laws like Illinois BIPA, etc., via the verification interface if applicable).
Local Requirements: You are responsible for complying with any local laws regarding your participation on Fantra. By verifying, you confirm that you are legally allowed to view adult content in your jurisdiction. Our verification confirms age, but if your local law has stricter requirements (for example, some places might require you to be 21 for certain content, or to register with the government), you must adhere to those as well. (Fantra’s system may not be able to account for every local nuance, so we expect users to know their local obligations).
Security of Your Account Post-Verification: Once verified, do not let others use your Fantra account. The account is meant for the verified user only. Do not share your login credentials. If you suspect someone else is using your account, notify us immediately and change your password. Shared accounts defeat the purpose of verification and are not allowed.
Updates: If any of your verification-related information changes (for instance, legal name change), please update us. We may require documentation of the change. Generally, your age doesn’t need updating (it only goes up!), but name or identity changes might need an account note for future re-verification.
Single Account: You agree not to attempt to create multiple accounts to bypass verification. Our one person, one account policy, combined with KYC, means you verify once and use that account. Creating a second account would require a second verification which would flag you as already verified; this is generally not permitted unless there’s a valid reason (e.g., you lost access to your original account and after thorough checks we allow a new one).
8. Miscellaneous
Policy Changes: Fantra may update this KYC Verification Policy as laws evolve or as our platform’s needs change. If we modify the verification process significantly (for example, if we start collecting additional data or change providers), we will update this document and notify users as appropriate (via email or upon login). The “Last Updated” date will always reflect the latest revision. Continued use of Fantra will constitute acknowledgment of the updated policy.
Contact and Support: We understand verification can be intimidating or troublesome for some users. If you have questions or issues with the process, please contact our support at admin@fantra.ai We have a dedicated compliance support team that can assist with verification issues. For instance, if you don’t have any of the primary documents, they might be able to advise on alternatives that are acceptable.
Language and Accessibility: We aim to provide the verification flow and instructions in multiple languages for our global audience. If you require assistance in a different language or require special accommodation (for example, if you have a disability that makes the standard process difficult), reach out to us. We will do our best to accommodate and find a solution so you can verify and join Fantra.
Third-Party Terms: Our verification provider may present you with their own terms of service or consent form as part of the process. Please review those, as they outline how the provider operates (for example, some providers explicitly state they are not retaining your data beyond the verification). By proceeding, you’re also agreeing to the provider’s terms in relation to the verification step.
By maintaining strict KYC standards, Fantra ensures that it remains a platform exclusively for adults, and that all users are accountable. We appreciate your cooperation in completing verification and helping us uphold a safe community. Thank you for your trust in Fantra.
